Rockford Symphony Orchestra delivers Independence Day Concert July 3

Join the Rockford Symphony Orchestra (RSO) for its annual Independence Day Spectacular at 8 p.m., Thursday, July 3, at the Bengt Sjostrom (Starlight) Theatre at Rock Valley College. This summertime tradition will feature patriotic music and fireworks.

Enjoy an evening under the stars with a Pops Concert of patriotic favorites, a tribute to our veterans, and lively, summertime tunes. Featured pieces include “God Bless America,” Aaron Copland’s “Hoedown,” a Beach Boys Medley, Orange Blossom Special, and Broadway Showstoppers.

Fireworks and John Philip Sousa’s “Stars and Stripes Forever” complete this annual summer tradition.

Tickets for the ComEd Independence Day Spectacular can be ordered through the Starlight Theatre box office at (815) 921-2160. Tickets also are available online at Price is $30 ($29 for students and seniors).

Before the concert, the RSO will host an All-American Picnic on the grounds of the RVC campus beginning at 6 p.m. Tickets for the barbecue are $15 for adults and $10 for children 12 and younger and can be purchased with concert tickets.
