Armed robbery at Tobacco Outlet on North Main

At about 8:37 p.m., July 22, Rockford police officers responded to the Tobacco Outlet at 3219 N. Main St. in reference to a reported armed bobbery to the business.

Upon arrival, officers learned a black male entered the business, approached the clerk and produced a dark-colored handgun. The suspect then removed an undetermined amount of money from the cash register and fled the business on foot.

The suspect was last seen fleeing northbound on North Main Street. The suspect was described as a black male, 30 to 40 years old, 5-foot-2 to 5-foot-4 tall with a medium build. The suspect was last seen wearing a blue shirt, blue shorts and a Chicago Bulls baseball hat.
