Pec Playhouse Theatre holds auditions for ‘Abundance’ July 27-28

Staff Report

PECATONICA, Ill. — Pec Playhouse Theatre in Pecatonica, Ill., has announced open auditions for its next production, Abundance.

Abundance is a poignant, but unromanticized, story of the hard lives of pioneers on the high plains of Wyoming in the 1860s. Macon and Bess are two mail-order brides, lured to the West by the promise of new beginnings through marriage to men they’ve never met. While waiting for their respective husbands-to-be, the two women become instant best friends. The play follows the two women through their friendship and adventures over the course of 25 years, unearthing the dark underside of American mythology.

The director requests those auditioning to bring two contrasting monologues, any length, along with a résumé. Roles available call for two women ages of 18 to 30s and three men ages 20 to 50s.

Auditions are from 7 until 10 p.m., Monday and Tuesday, July 27-28, with call-backs (if required) Wednesday, July 29. All auditions are at Pec Playhouse Theatre, 314 N. Main St. Pecatonica, Ill.
