Staff Report

ROCKTON, Ill. — The Beloit International Film Festival (BIFF) and First National Bank and Trust Co. continue the BIFF Outdoors summer program Saturday, July 26, with the summertime family classic, The Sandlot. The PG-rated film will be presented at Old Settler’s Park in Rockton, Ill., beginning at approximately 9:15 p.m.

The Sandlot is a 1993 coming-of-age film about Scotty Smalls, the new kid in town who is trying to make friends before summer begins. The town’s best baseball player, Benny “The Jet” Rodriquez, takes him under his wing, and together with the rest of the sandlot crew, they spend a summer unlike any they’d ever had, or ever would again. Funny, moving, thrilling … and a sure “home run” for the entire family!

BIFF Outdoors is a summer program designed to provide free screenings of popular and classic films in the stateline area. The balance of the summer series will be announced shortly. All films begin after dusk.
