Summer Manufacturing Camp – RPS partners with Rock Valley College to prepare students for two NIMS Certificate tests. Camp runs thru Aug. 14. Students who pass the certification exams will be eligible to interview for a job as a Computer Numerical Control (CNC) operator. After the summer program, students can continue their education at RVC in either an associate degree track for a two-year degree in Manufacturing and Engineering Technology, or a certificate degree track to earn additional NIMS certifications. Volunteers Needed to Deliver Meals – Rock County Council on Aging needs volunteers to assist with delivery of meals in the Janesville area. A few hours per week will provide noon-time meals plus safety checks and social contact for homebound older adults. Deliveries are made around noon, Mon.-Fri. Montessori Students help build school in Kenya – Students at Maria Montessori School and Thurgood Marshall School are working with international charity partner Free the Children to build a school in Kenya. So far, they have raised nearly $13,000 to dig a well in South Sudan, plus continued service work. They plan to raise $10,000 to build a girls’ school in Kenya with a fund-raising program, “Brick by Brick.” They’re selling bricks for $20 and hope to sell 500. Registration for ENF 2015 Eagle Bus Tours – Bald eagle bus tours leave from Stoney Creek Inn at 8 a.m. on Saturdays, Feb. 18 and 28. Visit four historic wintering communities of eagles.
