Calvary Christian Church and its members are hosting their fifth annual “Calvary Cares” giveaway from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 16. Gently-used clothing, furniture, appliances, etc., are to be collected and made available completely free of charge to anyone in the area who needs them. The event will be at the church building, 5455 Charles St., Rockford.
“Our hope is to serve once more as a network to bless those in need in our community,” said the church’s pastor, Steve Doyle. “That which we freely receive, we will freely give.”
Donations of items in good condition will be accepted Aug. 6-15 at the church building. Anyone from the community is encouraged to give to this event to benefit others and will be offered a receipt for their charitable gift. Donations can be dropped off at the church between 9 and 11 a.m. and 3 to 6 p.m., Monday through Saturday. Call the church at (815) 398-4940 if you have a larger item to donate to see if pick-up can be arranged.
