16-year-old faces burglary, criminal damage to property charges

A 16-year-old Rockford boy has been arrested and charged with attempted residential burglary and criminal damage to property.

The arrest of the teen came after police were called to the 1000 block of 16th Street at approximately 1:05 a.m., Monday, Aug. 25, on the report of a burglary in progress.

The resident of the 16th Street residence had advised responding officers that an individual had knocked at the front door, and when the resident did not answer, the resident heard pounding at the rear door.

Responding officers located and apprehended the 16-year-old juvenile in the area.

Upon further investigation, it was determined the juvenile had attempted forced entry into the rear door of the 16th Street residence.
