Fifth payment received for Boone County School Facilities Sales Tax

Staff Report

Boone-Winnebago Regional Superintendent of Schools Dr. Lori Fanello’s office has received the fifth payment for the Boone County School Facilities Sales Tax. The payment of $247,195.94 covers the sales month of May 2014 and was received Aug. 11, 2014.

The funds may be used by the districts for school facility purposes that are outlined in the School Code portion of the Illinois Compiled Statutes.

Distributions are based on the fall 2013 Housing Report Enrollment Numbers that school officials reported to the Illinois State Board of Education. These funds go to all public school districts that have territory in Boone County based on the number of students who live in that territory.

The law provides for the Regional Office of Education to retain money from the CSFST funds to cover administrative expenses incurred in managing and disbursing the funds. Therefore, the Regional Office has written formal agreements with each of the school districts involved to retain .005 percent of the funds.

Questions regarding the distribution of the sales tax and the process can be answered by the regional superintendent. For more about each school district’s plans, contact the local superintendent. Dr. Lori Fanello may be reached at (815) 636-3060.
