The Illinois Prisoner Review Board voted 11-3 Thursday, Aug. 29, to keep convicted killer Simon Peter Nelson in prison until he is up for parole again in three years.
Nelson was convicted of killing his six children and the family with a knife and rubber mallet in 1978 before driving to Milwaukee, where he was arrested. Nelson told authorities he snapped when he learned his wife was seeking a divorce.
Nelson was first eligible for parole in 1986. He is serving a 100- to 200- year prison term.
