The juveniles males, ages 10, 8, and 7, were arrested Monday, Sept. 1, for allegedly breaking into McIntosh Elementary School, 525 N. Pierpont Ave., and stealing from the cafeteria.
According to police, officers were dispatched to McIntosh at 6:36 p.m., in response to a intrusion alarm. When officers arrived, they found bicycles parked outside and a door that was forced open.
Police later located the three boys and took them into custody. Officers searched the building and found that items in the library and cafeteria had been disturbed. One of the suspects had cafeteria items in his backpack, police said.
Each juvenile was arrested, charged with burglary and released to their parents.
Aug. 31, at around 7 p.m., Rockford Police were dispatched to the school, where they discovered window on the door had been broken. Six juveniles were spotted outside the building before police arrived, but no suspects were observed inside the building. Police say three rooms were ransacked. Suspects in both incidents entered the school through the same door.
The names of the juvenile suspects arrested will not be released.
