Benefit for Leaf River fire victims set for Sept. 13

Saturday, June 7, the Steve Beltran family of six lost all their worldly possessions in a devastating house fire just north of Leaf River. Their home — including their family pet lab, Bella — were a complete loss. CPO Beltran is one of the Ogle County Conservation Police officers. He and the family are living in a one-room cabin in rural Pecatonica while their home is being rebuilt.

A day of rebuilding their spirits is set for Saturday, Sept. 13, starting with a golf outing at Sunset Golf Course in Mt. Morris at 9 a.m. It will be an 18-hole scramble, including prizes, cart and lunch. Cost is $50 per person. For questions or to pre-register, contact Gary Henderson at (815) 732-4553.

Later that same day, Saturday, Sept. 13, the Moose Club in Mt. Morris will open its doors at 3 p.m. for an afternoon of fun and entertainment, including a family dinner, live auction, raffles, 50/50, and a meet-and-greet with TV’s most famous hunting couple, Ralph,Vicki and RJ Cianciarulo from Archer’s Choice Media Inc. Auction items include a new Hoyt compound bow, a hand-carved walking cane, large signed and numbered wildlife prints, a Hunter’s Safety System Harness, and much more. Cost is $10 per adult and $5 for children. There is a need for donations to help support this cause.
