The Board of Trustees for the Rockford Public Library announced the final candidates for the position of executive director.
After considering several candidates, the board has selected four top candidates to move on in the process.
Board of Trustees President Paul Logli said: “We are very pleased with our selection and know that among our finalists, we will be able to secure the best candidate for the position. We have some challenging times ahead and we strongly believe that all the candidates exhibit the leadership qualities which exemplify the direction the library and our community are looking for.”
About the Candidates
Shannon Halikias was most recently the executive director of the Lisle Library District in Lisle, Illinois. In this position she oversaw a staff of 80 employees and a budget of over $5 Million. While at Lisle Library District, Shannon led a renovation project of their main library. Prior to her time at Lisle, she was a branch manager at the Aurora Public Library for four years. She obtained her Masters of Library Science degree from North Carolina Central University.
Susan Henricks has served as the director of the Carnegie-Stout Public Library, in Dubuque, Iowa, for the past 12 years. While there, she led a five-phase, two-year complete renovation of their main library. She currently oversees a staff of 68 employees and a budget near $4 Million. Prior to her library career, Susan worked in the private sector as a marketing manager. She obtained her Masters of Library Science from the University of Iowa and is currently pursuing her Doctor of Philosophy: Managerial Leadership in the Information Professions from Simmons College. Susan is a Rockford native.
Fayrene Muhammad served as deputy director of the Rockford Public Library for seven years; she currently serves as the interim executive director. Fayrene’s career of increasing responsibility at the Rockford Public Library has spanned over 14 years. In addition to her time at the Rockford Public Library, Fayrene’s career includes three years at the Evanston Public Library. Fayrene obtained her Masters of Library Science from the University of Illinois.
Lynn Stainbrook is the director of the Brown County Library, serving the Green Bay, Wisconsin, area where she oversees eight branch libraries, 130 staff, and a budget of over $7 million. Prior to leading the Brown County Library, Lynn was the Executive Librarian at the Arlington Heights (Illinois) Library. She has experience with all aspects of major building projects. Lynn obtained her Masters of Library Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Lynn is a Janesville, Wisconsin, native.
