Hydraulics problem grounds UPS plane in Rockford

Staff Report

Nobody was inured when a UPS plane with four people on board made an emergency landing in Rockford Wednesday night.

Flight 8621 out of Ontario, California, was heading to Louisville, Kentucky, when the pilot radioed an Alert 3 (worst-case scenario situation) to Chicago-Rockford International Airport. The plane made an emergency landing just after 11 p.m. A hydraulics failure was identified as the problem.

The jet was carrying hazardous material. All of the material remained intact during the landing.
