Supporters launch Karen S. Williams scholarship fund

Staff Report
The Jefferson High School Alumni Association, in partnership with the Community Foundation of Northern Illinois, has launched the Karen S. Williams Memorial Scholarship Fund.
Karen Williams was the founder of the Jefferson High School Alumni Association along with popular Facebook groups “Growing Up in Rockford” and the “J-Hawks Nest.” One of JHSAA’s primary goals is the development of a scholarship fund for a student in need.  The decision to honor Karen’s work and vision by naming the Fund after her was made shortly after her tragic death on Aug. 27.
Jerry Moors from the Jefferson High School Class of ’76 has issued a challenge to the community and has pledged to match all private donations up to $2,500 over the next 60 days (through Nov. 13, 2014).
