The Chicago Rockford International Airport (RFD) was featured on Fox News’ website in a story on what airports do to remain relevant and stay competitive as airlines shrink and consolidate service destinations.
The story, “Smaller airports lure travelers with food, beer and other creature comforts”, highlights several strategies airports employ. RFD’s focus on customer service was cited as key to customer loyalty. RFD’s free parking, “Airport Ambassador” program, large number of wheel chairs and new Caribbean-themed restaurant on the second floor were also noted.
This article comes on the heels of an exciting month for the airport with the recent announcement that AAR, the nation’s largest Maintenance, Repair and Overhaul (MRO) provider will be building a new hangar facility on RFD grounds and will employ up to 500 people.
