Wisconsin child abuse suspect arrested in Loves Park

A man wanted on child sex abuse charges in Wisconsin was arrested in Loves Park over the weekend after police found him hiding in the home of a relative.

Saturday, Sept. 13, police learned 39-year-old Samuel Borger, a fugitive wanted on charges of sexual assault of a child and child enticement in Janesville, Wisconsin, may be in Illinois. At around 8:15 p.m., deputies arrived at a home in the 7700 block of Boulder Street. That’s where they spotted Borger through a window and attempted to enter the house to arrest him. Residents refused to allow officers in, resulting in a 30-minute standoff.

Borger exited the house at around 9 p.m., and was taken into custody. Police also arrested 44-year-old Theresa Borger and charged her with concealing/aiding a fugitive. She has since posted bail.

Samuel Borger is lodged in the Winnebago County Jail awaiting extradition to Rock County.
