The Rock Valley College (RVC) Department of Composition and Literature will welcome award-winning author Dr. Amina Gautier for the 2014 Visiting Writer Series.

Dr. Gautier will lecture from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, in the RVC Student Center Atrium (on RVC’s main campus, 3301 N. Mulford Road). The lecture will be immediately followed by a Q & A session and book signing.

Dr. Gautier is the winner of the Flannery O’Connor Award for Short Fiction for her short story collection At-Risk. Gautier is the second African-American writer to win this award in its 30-year history. She is also the winner of the Prairie Schooner Book Prize in Fiction for her short-story collection Now We Will Be Happy.

This event is free and open to all.
