Award-winning author inspires us to reclaim creativity
If you’ve been looking for some inspiration to help you to start, finish or stay committed to a creative project, there’s a concert and workshop coming up that’s bound to help. Award-winning author, photographer and workshop director Jan Phillips will be presenting “No Time for Ordinary — Being the Force You Came Here to Be” at Womanspace, 3333 Maria Linden Drive, Rockford.
An entertaining and inspiring concert will be held from 7 to 9 p.m., Friday, Sept. 26, with a workshop the following Saturday from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Phillips is the author of Marry Your Muse—Making a Lasting Commitment to Your Creativity, winner of the 1998 Ben Franklin Award presented by the Publishers Marketing Association and the Athena Award presented by Mentor magazine. She is also author of Making Peace — One Woman’s Journey Around the World, a chronicle of her 18-month global peace pilgrimage from 1983 to 1985.
Phillips has presented workshops to more than 10,000 people around the world and is committed to creating an occasion of celebration and transformation.
“Everyone of us was born with the potential for amazing creativity,” Phillips said, “and my work is to revive that awareness — not that we will all become self-supporting artists, but that our lives might assume the beauty of a work of art.”
Womanspace is hosting the events in honor of Peace Month in the Rockford region. For more about Peace Month, visit www.connect2peace.org.
Cost for the concert is $15 in advance, $20 at the door. The workshop is $60 with lunch provided for an extra $10. Visit www.womanspace-rockford.org or call (815) 877-0118 for more information.
