The German Society of Rockford invites you to the 50th Annual Oktoberfest Friday, Oct. 3, and Saturday, Oct. 4, at Loves Park City Hall, 100 Heart Blvd., Loves Park, Illinois. Hours are 5 p.m. to midnight Friday and noon to midnight Saturday.
Special attractions are the German cultural tent, authentic German souvenirs, crafts, games and inflatables and face painting for the kids. Children’s language and dance lessons will be offered at 3:30 p.m., Saturday. Also on Saturday, Bar Maid Stein races begin at 1 p.m., Bier Barrel races at 2 p.m. and wiener dog races at 5 p.m.
The menu includes a bratwurst dinner, hot dogs, schnitzel pork tenderloin, Reubens, potato pancakes and authentic German desserts. German and domestic beer and wines will be available for purchase.
Live music will be provided by the Jim Busta Band and Molly B, as well as the Tom Brusky Band. Various contemporary bands will be playing outside. The D’Waldstadttanzer dance troupe will also perform.
Purchase a VIP Party Pack for $40, or individual tickets for $14, good for the two days of the festival, available at all area Schnucks grocery stores.
