Rosie’s Birthday Club fund-raiser Sept. 25
Rosie’s Birthday Club will have its fifth annual “Have Your Cake and Eat it, Too” fund-raiser from 5 to 8 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, at Radisson Hotel & Conference Center, 200 S. Bell School Road, Rockford.
Tickets are $50 or a table of eight for $375, and include meal, beverage and dessert. Celebrate with live cake-decorating and a cake auction to benefit Rosie’s.
See what a dozen local celebrities, teamed up with professional bakers, can dream up. Help Rosie’s by bidding at the auction to take one of the cakes home with you. A silent auction will also be held.
Participating celebrities include the following: Lauren Davis, Culture Shock; Jane Femminella, The Canine Crunchery; Tim Larson, Skyward Promotions; Whitney Martin, WIFR-TV; Joe Bruscato, Winnebago County State’s Attorney; Amy Larson; Tim Dimke, Rockford Park District; Chip Stoner, Boys’ & Girls’ Club; Harlem Key Club; Rudy Valdez, UTC Aerospace Systems and community volunteer; Amy Wilcox, Jack Wolf Chrysler; Barb Verni-Lau, Epilepsy Foundation; George Schafner, Lou Bachrodt; and Mary Sweeney and Elizabeth Branyan, Mary’s By Design. Participating bakers include The Sugar Circle, Yolo’s Sweets, 3 Lil Birds, Cake Chick, Dessert 4 U, Bookworm Bakery (gluten-free), Sweet P and Cakes by Nicki.
Rosie’s Birthday Club is a nonprofit organization of volunteers who believe all children should be honored on the one day that belongs just to them. With community centers, churches and other organizations that serve children, the organization provides a gift and party to celebrate those who might otherwise be forgotten.
Rosie’s Birthday Club provides birthday presents and birthday parties for children at Northwest Community Center Boys & Girls Club, Carlson Boys & Girls Club, Blackhawk Boys & Girls Club, Second Congregational Church, Orton Keys Boys & Girls Club and RockHouse Kids. Rosie’s Birthday Club has been creating special moments in the lives of these children.
