Tres Vidas, a chamber music theater work conceived and performed by The Core Ensemble (cello, piano and percussion), will perform at Rock Valley College at 7:30 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 25, in the Performing Arts Room (lower level of the ERC building) on the RVC main campus (3301 N. Mulford Road).
Tres Vidas is a chamber music theater work based on the lives of three legendary Latin American women: Mexican painter Frida Kahlo, Salvadoran peasant activist Rufina Amaya and Argentinean poet Alfonsina Storni. The show features a stylistic range of music, including popular and folk songs of Mexico, El Salvador and Argentina, vocal and instrumental tango by Carlos Gardel and Astor Piazzola, and new music written for the Core Ensemble by Osvaldo Golijov, Orlando Garcia, Pablo Ortiz and Manuel DeMurga.
The performance will feature Cristina Isabel Lucas as Frida Khalo, Rufina Amaya and Alfonsina Sorni.
