CRYSTAL LAKE, Illinois — The Woodstock Weavers Guild will present its 17th Annual Textile and Fiber Arts Show Oct. 1-22 at McHenry County College, 8900 U.S. Hwy. 14, Crystal Lake, Illinois.
The show can be viewed in student library galleries 1 and 2. Also, the Epping Gallery wall in the lower level of the college will house a historical display, the Guild Challenge and the Towel Exchange.
The event features hand-woven textiles created by local hand weavers from northern Illinois and southern Wisconsin. Items on display include garments, fashion accessories, household linens, rugs, tapestries and more.
The Guild Challenge exhibit features hand-woven items representing themes common to Woodstock, Illinois. Dick Tracy’s comic creator was from Woodstock, so the colors black, yellow and red are highlighted. The movie Groundhog Day was filmed in Woodstock and winter colors predominate. Woodstock’s famous Opera House inspired articles that relate to the Marx brothers’ movie A Night at the Opera.
Gallery hours are 8 a.m.-9:30 p.m., Monday-Thursday; 8 a.m.-4:30 p.m., Fridays; and 8 a.m.-2 p.m., Saturdays. The college is closed Sundays and Oct. 14. Admission to the exhibit is free.
