The Odds Man

Week 3 straight up: 11-5 (69 percent)

After Week 3: 31-17 (64 percent)

Against the spread (ATS) bets: 4-1-1 (80 percent)

Survivor: 1-0 (N.E.)

Week 3’s biggest disappointments were Packers, Texans, Rams, Dolphins, Panthers and Jets.

Bye-less weeks have ended, and in Week 4, six teams get a break.

With 18 percent of the regular season past, the top defensive teams are Detroit, New York Jets, New England, Washington and Tennessee. Top offenses are Atlanta, Washington, Indianapolis, New Orleans and Pittsburgh. Straight up, home favorites win 62.2 percent of the time, while against the spread (ATS), away dogs are still your best bet, covering 58.3 percent. Bengals (off) and Chargers seem to be covering monsters, both at 3-0, then Browns (off) at 2-0-1. Teams that can’t cover to save their lives are the Packers, Jets, Broncos (off), Jaguars and Bucs. Over/unders are almost a dead split (23/25).

Not all lines are available yet, but good Week 4 bets might be: Chicago +1.5, Detroit -2 and San Diego -13.5. Others could be New York Giants +3.5, Buffalo +3 and Philadelphia +4.5. I will possibly add more as we get closer.

Survivor: San Diego.

As always, good luck.
