The Winnebago County Health Department (WCHD), along with our local health systems, continues to monitor the current Ebola situation in the United States and worldwide, officials said Thursday, Oct. 2.
Working together, the WCHD and the local health systems continually develop, modify and test their emergency response plans for situations which could occur such as a rapid outbreak of a highly-contagious disease such as Ebola.
The effort is part of the larger overall infectious disease control plan already in place. County officials remain in contact with the Center for Disease Control (CDC), and other health departments, to monitor the situation.
Winnebago County residents are encouraged to follow CDC guidelines and avoid non-essential travel to West African countries affected by the Ebola virus outbreak.
