Rehearsals begin Oct. 19 for 69th presentation of Handel’s ‘Messiah’
The 69th annual presentation of Handel’s “Messiah” will be at 7 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 29, and 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, at Trinity Lutheran Church, 200 N. First St., Rockford. Admission is free.
The two-hour concert features internationally-acclaimed soloists, a chamber orchestra, pipe organ, harpsichord and a 130-voice choir. A free-will offering will be taken.
People of all ages and voice parts and from all faith communities and organizations are encouraged to join the volunteer choir. Children are invited to sing with their parents present. Nat Bauer is the conductor.
Rehearsals are from 2 to 4 p.m., every Sunday, beginning Oct. 19 and running through Nov. 23, at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 Third Ave., Rockford. Membership fee for Rockford Choral Union is $5. Scores can be purchased for $10. Learn more at http://www.rockfordchoralunion.org/.
