Dog and cat adoption event at Children’s Home + Aid Oct. 20
Online Staff Report
Children’s Home + Aid staff are partnering with Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) to help find forever homes for dogs and cats this October. The “Open A Heart & Home” adoption event is scheduled for 1 to 4 p.m., Monday, Oct. 20, at the organization’s administrative office parking lot, 910 Second Ave., Rockford.
Adoption fees include spay/neuter, microchip, vaccination/license, and preventive health care. The fees are as follow:
• Dogs and puppies — $110
• Kittens — $85
• Cats older than 1 — $40
• Golden whiskers (7 years and older) dog — $55
• Golden whiskers (7 years and older) cat — $20
Children’s Home + Aid staff member and coordinator of the event, Laura Kasper, states the event provides staff, clients and community members an opportunity to learn more about the pet adoption process and even consider becoming an adoptive or foster parent for a cat or dog.
“With the stressful work we are providing on a daily basis to put children on the path to a better life and keep them there, it is refreshing to have a pet companion, full of unconditional love, to come home to at the end of a long day,” Kasper said.
Kasper has helped several dogs find homes with her Children’s Home + Aid colleagues.
