Animal Services offers $5 Fall Feline Frenzy Adoption Event

Winnebago County Animal Services (WCAS) is holding a $5 Fall Feline Frenzy Adoption Event from Tuesday, Oct. 21, through Friday, Oct. 31. Adopt an adult cat 1 year or older for $5 and receive the following services for free: spay or neuter, microchip, age-appropriate vaccinations, rabies shot, one-year Winnebago County rabies tag, bag of food and more.

The adopter will be qualified using normal adoption procedures and requirements. Qualified adopters may adopt one cat at the reduced adoption fee and a second one at the regular adoption fee. This offer is also good at the Animal Services off-site adoption location inside the Machesney Park Petsmart on West Lane Road.

WCAS has more than 80 cats and kittens for adoption. Adopting a cat has its advantages, including the following:

• Cats don’t have to go for daily walks;

• Cats don’t need to be let outside for potty breaks several times a day;

• Cats are Purr-fect for busy, employed or active people;

• Cats are self-cleaning and don’t need baths;

• Cats make wonderful apartment pets;

• Cats are usually quieter and don’t bark; and

• Cats are great companions for seniors.

    Adopting a cat from the shelter is one of the most rewarding things I have ever done. My cat is funny and entertaining. She is comforting to be with. She follows me around the house and “talks” to me. I love her so much I went and got a another one! They are getting along now and I have never had so much love in my life.
