Police street detail results in five prostitution arrests

A street crimes detail on Rockford’s east side resulted in the arrest of five individuals on prostitution-related charges last weekend, police announced Tuesday, Oct. 28.

During the detail conducted Sunday, Oct. 26, the Rockford Police Department District 2 Neighborhood Response Unit arrested two women for prostitution and three males for solicitation.

Charged with prostitution were Amy Borchman, 42, of Rockford; and Jewel Cantu, 33, of Rockford. Rockford residents, Jose R. Facio, 20; Billy Clark, 51; and 31-year-old Tremaine Holland were charged with solicitation of a prostitute.

The District 2 Neighborhood Response Unit is part of Rockford Police District 2, which serves central Rockford and the near-east side. The precinct was launched in January as part of the city’s geographic policing system. Police District 3 serves the far-east side, while District 1 comprises the west side.

    I would rather see our policing money spent on stopping the high home burglaries THAT ARE NEVER SOLVED, the murders, the shootings and the store robberies than arresting 5 people for prostitution………..let’s get our priorities straight, huh??
