Avalon String Quartet performs at Mendelssohn Hall Nov. 2

Avalon String Quartet, the quartet-in-residence at Northern Illinois University School of Music, will perform at 3 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 2, at Mendelssohn Hall, 406 N. Main St., in Rockford.

The quartet’s fourth season at Mendelssohn PAC, titled “Brahms: Traditionalist and Innovator,” features a selection by Brahms at every concert, in addition to other classical works. Avalon String Quartet is Blaise Magniere (violin), Marie Wang (violin), Anthony Devroye (viola) and Cheng-Hou Lee (cello).

Tickets are $25 for adults and $6 for students and can be purchased online at www.mendelssohnpac.org, by calling (815) 964-9713, or at the door.

Avalon String Quartet’s performance dates for the rest of their 2014-15 series at Mendelssohn Hall are: Nov. 2; Feb. 15, 2015; and April 26, 2015.
