The Association of Fundraising Professionals — Rockford Chapter (AFP) and the Northern Illinois Planned Giving Council (NIPGC) have invited Robert Wahlers, MS, CFRE, a nationally recognized expert on charitable gift planning, to present a half-day workshop, “Working with Professional Advisers Using a Philanthropic Planning Model,” from 7:30 a.m. to noon, Friday, Nov. 14, at Northern Illinois University Conference Center, 8500 E. State St., Rockford.
The cost for the workshop is $50 for members of AFP or NIPGC and their guests or $75 for non-members. Register online at AFPRockford.org or send a check payable to AFP Rockford Area Chapter, P.O. Wahlers is professionally associated with AFP, AHP and PPP, and is a past national board member with the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning and also served as the chairman of the Education Advisory Committee for the AFP International Conference and on the AFP Committee on Directorship. He is a past board member of the Gift Planning Council of New Jersey and the New Jersey Chapter of the Association of Fundraising Professionals, where he served as president in 2008 and 2009.
In addition to the keynote presentation by Wahlers, an interactive panel discussion will be facilitated by attorney Marcia Mueller and will feature engaging professional advisers and non-profit leaders offering practical tips for working together to maximize gifts and donor satisfaction.
CFRE credits are available; CLE and CEU credits have been applied for.
The Rockford Area Chapter of AFP has 60 members representing area not-for-profit organizations and local businesses that work with these organizations. AFP works to advance philanthropy through advocacy, research, education and certification programs. It fosters development and growth of fund-raising professionals and promotes high ethical standards in the fund-raising profession.
The Northern Illinois Planned Giving Council, an affiliate of the Partnership for Philanthropic Planning, provides an educational forum to promote and support charitable planned giving with the intent to benefit both donors and nonprofit organizations.
