Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs fund-raiser Nov. 20 in Beloit

Staff Report

BELOIT, Wisconsin — The Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs’ 11th annual wine-themed fund-raiser is receiving a bit of a facelift this year. Attendees at the Sips & Sweets event will still be able to enjoy wine and hors d’oeuvres as they have for the past 10 years. New this year is the added element of gourmet chocolates prepared by Melanie’s Country Confections, and thoughtfully paired with fine wines. A cash bar, featuring the Sips & Sweets specialty martini, will also be available for non-wine drinkers.

The Sips & Sweets event will be at the Ironworks Hotel, 500 Pleasant St., Beloit, Wisconsin, from 6 to 10 p.m., Thursday, Nov. 20. Attendees can bid on a variety of silent auction items, and purchase their favorite wines and chocolates just in time for the holiday season. A portion of the wine and chocolate sales will benefit the clubs.

Items slated for the silent auction include Bears and Packers tickets and memorabilia, a “night on the town” limo package, UW Badgers hockey tickets, Canon Rebel EOS T3i cameras, a tool set, an auto detail, theme park tickets, and a variety of gift baskets with wine, candles, salon and beauty products.

In these tough times, Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs is needed now more than ever to support the entire family. While parents are worried about making ends meet and keeping their jobs, they can still rely on the clubs to ensure their children are in a safe, positive and affordable environment. The Boys & Girls Clubs have helped youth in the stateline area since 1955, offering each child a sense of belonging and the tools to make positive choices to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible citizens. A youth membership costs $10 per year, and it costs $433 annually for one child to attend the clubs. This fund-raiser helps cover operational costs to keep all the programs alive.

Advanced tickets are encouraged, and are available at the Beloit and South Beloit Clubs, or by calling (608) 364-8874. Tickets are $100 per couple or $75 each. Learn more about the event and the Stateline Boys & Girls Clubs at
