During the month of November, SwedishAmerican Health System is kicking off several holiday donation drives to help the less fortunate in the Rockford region.
A Winter Clothing Drive runs Nov. 3-21. SwedishAmerican employees will be collecting slightly used hats, gloves, scarves, coats and boots for homeless children in the Rockford area. The donations will be given to Rockford Public School District 205’s Homeless Program and other agencies that benefit the homeless. Bins will be placed in the hospital and Heart Hospital entrances as well as Camelot Tower.
A Salvation Army Drive runs Nov. 3-Dec. 12. Salvation Army bins will be placed in the hospital lobby, Heart Hospital lobby, Camelot Tower, Plaza, Belvidere Medical Center and the Regional Cancer Center Nov. 3-Dec. 12. Employees are encouraged to donate non-perishable food items.
SwedishAmerican employees are participating in the Adopt An Angel drive again this year to support families through the Winnebago/Boone County Foster Care Alliance. This is an opportunity for employees to help assist the foster parents by purchasing a nice gift in the $20-$25 range. The drive runs Nov. 10-Dec. 2.
Additionally, the SwedishAmerican Medical Center/Belvidere is hosting its own holiday drives. Employees in Belvidere will donate clothes to Belvidere High School’s “Closet Keepers” and adopt a local family in Belvidere for Thanksgiving and Christmas.
“SwedishAmerican enjoys giving back to the community, and we are excited to kick off our annual holiday donation drives,” said Katryna Kirby, community relations specialist at SwedishAmerican Health System. “These drives are just one small way SwedishAmerican employees can give back during the holiday season and help those who are less fortunate in our community.”
