Former Chicago Bears players Garrett Wolfe, Steve McMichael and Otis Wilson will be in Rockford Friday, Nov. 14, to attend the Rockford Park District Foundation’s second “Ties & Tennies” fundraising event. The players will be at Giovanni’s Restaurant & Convention Center, 610 N. Bell School Road, Rockford, from 5:30 to 11 p.m.
Prior to the Ties & Tennies event, the Rockford Park District and Rockford Public Schools have teamed up to provide a special opportunity for select Rockford Public Schools students. Former Chicago Bears running back Wolfe will visit West Middle School, 1900 N. Rockton Ave., Rockford, to have lunch and mentor students. Certain students from Rockford Auburn High School, Rockford Guilford High School, Haskell Year-Round Academy, Kennedy Middle School, Lewis Lemon Elementary School and West Middle School will all have one-on-one time with the Chicago native and NIU graduate. Wolfe plans to address topics such as: proper engagement of authority figures, education, anti-bullying, violence and career planning.
Wolfe will spend time with the students in the library from noon to 12:45 p.m.
