Online Staff Report
The Illinois Health Facilities and Services Review Board has approved the Certificate of Exemption (COE) application of OSF Healthcare System for a change of ownership of Mendota Community Hospital.
When asked to comment on the Planning Board’s decision, Kevin Schoeplein, CEO of OSF Healthcare System, said: “We are very pleased with the Review Board’s approval of our COE application. The level of support we have received for this endeavor has been wonderful and is very much appreciated — that support had been expressed by our medical staffs, including independent physicians who serve our patients and the community and from business leaders and our elected officials. We all share a vision for the future of transforming health care to improve the lives of those we serve.”
The planned integration of Mendota Community Hospital into OSF Healthcare System can now be finalized, which is expected to occur in the spring of 2015.
Judy Christiansen, Mendota Community Hospital interim CEO, expressed her appreciation, noting: “Mendota Community Hospital is committed to providing quality health care services to our community. Our team is very excited about the affiliation with OSF Healthcare System and what it means for our patients. We believe that together we are better positioned to provide for the health and well-being of our patients and our communities far into the future.”
