Rockford Rescue Mission invites anyone hungry for a hot meal and warm friendship to be their guest at their annual Thanksgiving banquet.
The banquet will be served at noon, Wednesday, Nov. 26, at the Mission’s main facility at 715 W. State St., in Rockford. Community guests will be joined by residents of the Mission’s life-recovery programs and guests in their emergency shelters.
“We all look forward to this opportunity to come together as a family,” said Executive Director Sherry Pitney. “At our Thanksgiving tables, people who are homeless, hungry, lonely or struggling with poverty enjoy much more than a traditional Thanksgiving meal with all the trimmings. They also receive acceptance, compassion and encouragement from others who truly care about them.”
The Mission plans to serve more than 600 meals at the annual event. No reservations are necessary to attend the Thanksgiving banquet. “We’ll be ready to welcome all who come through the door!” Pitney said.
Information about the Mission’s full range of programs and services is available online at www.rockfordrescuemission.org. Financial donations can be made on the site as well.
Open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year since 1964, Rockford Rescue Mission provides nutritious meals and safe shelter for thousands of hungry and homeless men, women and children every year, along with recovery programs and outreach services to rescue, recover and restore the lives of those who are struggling in the community.
