OREGON, Illinios — It’s almost time to think about getting your family’s Christmas tree. And what better way then to hunt with them for the perfect tree, cut it down, and take an absolutely fresh tree home to enjoy its beauty and fresh fragrance?
Plan to visit Sand Ridge Prairie to find your perfect tree. The Prairie Preservation Society of Ogle County (PPSOC) will sell beautifully shaped trees for the fourth consecutive year. Volunteers will help visitors.
Since the cut-it-yourself site reopened in 2011, public reaction has been exciting and rewarding. People who had come with their parents to pick and cut the perfect tree for their families were delighted that the operation had re-opened. The happiness on their faces as they arrived with anticipation and left with their prize has been gratifying to all of the volunteers. A new generation is discovering the pleasure of “tree hunting.”
Sales of trees will begin at 10 a.m., Nov. 28, and continue for the weekends of Nov. 28-30, Dec. 8-9, 15-16 and 22-23, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with weekday sales through Dec. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. Money from tree sales is used to restore and maintain the site, an outstanding natural area.
Join the PPSOC in this delightful adventure.
