Tree-lighting festival kicks off holiday season in Machesney Park
MACHESNEY PARK, Illinois — The Village of Machesney Park Christmas Tree Lighting festival will be at the Towne Center Roundabout at 6:30 p.m., Sunday, Nov. 30, immediately following the Parks Chamber “Light-Up the Parks Holiday Parade,” which begins at 4:45 p.m., Nov. 30. All residents, friends and families are invited to join Machesney Park Mayor Jerry Bolin to light the village’s Christmas tree.
“This is a great event to bring neighbors together to celebrate the holidays,” Bolin said. “It’s the small traditions and focus on families that makes Machesney Park a wonderful place to live.”
Residents are invited to enjoy the warmth of the outdoor fire pits, hot cocoa and cookies to usher in the season in this annual Machesney Park holiday tradition.
The evening will begin with the announcement of the winners of the “Light-Up the Parks Parade” entries and coloring contest winners. There will be a special appearance from Santa Claus, who is bringing his two reindeer “Dancer” and “Prancer.” Children can whisper their Christmas wishes in Santa’s ear and have pictures taken with him and his reindeer.
