Dorothy Paige-Turner, Joel Ross and the Council Choraleers children’s choir will present a concert celebrating “Love, Peace, Hope, and Joy” at 4500 Spring Creek Road Saturday, Dec. 6, at 7 p.m. The concert is part of the Spring Creek UCC “Concerts On The Creek” series.
Off-street parking is accessible from Spring Brook Road, just north of the intersection of Spring Brook Road and Spring Creek Road. Seating is limited, available on a first-come, first-served basis. Doors open at 6 p.m. Refreshments, including Mama Mia’s pizza, will be available. Admission is free, although attendees will have an opportunity to make donations directly to the musicians.
The Council Choraleers, recipients of the Winnebago County Violence Prevention Collaborative’s 2014 Partners In Peace Award, will begin the concert.
At 8 p.m., Turner and Ross will present a concert of jazz. Turner is a versatile vocal musician, choral director and retired music educator. She is the recipient of numerous awards and is a RAMI (Rockford Area Music Industry) Hall of Fame member. Ross recently retired as choral director of Rockford’s internationally known Kantorei, The Singing Boys of Rockford. He is an accomplished vocal musician, accompanist and director. Turner and Ross have performed and collaborated musically over 35 years, performing music that ranges from torch jazz to classical styles.
