Rockford’s Phantom Regiment needs votes by Dec. 5 to win $20,000
Online Staff Report
Phantom Regiment is competing to win $20,000 through Sungevity Gives Back, a contest focused on what we do to “Generate Positive” in the world.
As they begin their 59th year of existence in Rockford with auditions for the 2015 season (regiment.org/camp for schedule & location), they need the public’s assistance. The Phantom Regiment is in the midst of an online voting battle for $20,000 through Sungevity Gives Back. The Regiment is sitting in a very close second place. Voting ends at 11 p.m., this Friday, Dec. 5. Vote at: sungevity.org/gives-back or regiment.org/vote.
The Regiment’s goal is to provide life-changing experiences for all the young people in their programs, including educational clinics at Rockford Jefferson High School to the world renown drum corps.
“My involvement in the Phantom Regiment has been the single most defining experience of my life,” said Robert Marshall, tuba player, 2011-2014. “It is impossible to put a price tag on what I have gained from this organization, not only as a performer or an educator, but as a person.”
The Regiment is in desperate need for a new equipment trailer to hold and transport all of its musical instruments and uniforms. The $20,000 grant will go far in helping the Regiment build a new equipment truck, from the ground up.
Earn the Regiment an extra 10 votes by requesting a free solar quote or sign up to be a solar advocate. The Phantom Regiment can use all the extra votes they can get.
Support the Regiment by voting and then spreading the word. Here’s a sample Facebook post or Tweet you can use: “I just voted & YOU should, too! Help the @PhantomRegiment win $20,000 by taking a minute to vote for them at sungevity.org/gives-back.”
Be sure to catch the Phantom Regiment at their local rehearsals, or at the Show of Shows at Rockford Boylan Catholic High School this summer. For more information and schedules, visit www.regiment.org.
