Crossroads Blues Society holds Christmas/Hanukkah Party Dec. 13

By Steve Jones
President, Crossroads Blues Society

It’s time for the 10th Annual Crossroads Christmas and Hanukkah Party!

Saturday, Dec. 13, at the Hope and Anchor English Pub, we celebrate the holidays with a great show with two guitar heroes — Bobby Messano and Dave Fields — 8 p.m. to midnight, no cover until after 7 p.m. ($5 after 7 p.m.), so get there early for a great meal and stay for the show! Also, bring an album (LP, 33-1/3 type) wrapped for exchange. You might get a great one, but most of the time, folks look for something really funny to exchange.

Bobby has toured with the likes of Stevie Winwood and is a superb talent. His newest CD, Welcome to Deltaville, is a Grammy nominee; this was not a first for the very talented Mr. Messano! Dave is an up-and-coming whiz whose fourth album has been topping the charts for months. These two will put on a high-energy show!

At 5040 N. Second St. in Loves Park, the Hope and Anchor offers authentic English Pub fare and an extraordinary beer, liquor and wine selection. They host our Second Saturday Blues Shows. We also added a second December show on Saturday, Dec. 27, with the great Lurrie Bell and his band! Featured as headliner at our festival in August in Lyran Park, Lurrie tore it up.

Don’t miss either of these shows — this is the best music scene in Rockford!

From the Dec. 10-16, 2014, issue
