OREGON, Illinois — A draft copy of the Ogle County Solid Waste Management Plan 20-Year Update is now available for public review at several locations around the county and online. A 90-day public comment period ending Dec. 17 will allow the public to review and make suggestions on the plan.
The purpose of the solid waste management plan update is to evaluate the recommendations in the existing plan, discuss various waste management options, consider suggestions from the Citizen’s Advisory Committee, and to propose new recommendations for the 20-Year Update to the Ogle County Board. These recommendations will include plans for waste reduction, recycling, and final disposal of waste generated in Ogle County. The Solid Waste Planning and Recycling Act requires each Illinois county to prepare, adopt and implement 20-year municipal waste management plans. Under this law, the plans must also be updated and reviewed every five years.
Copies of the 20-Year Update are available for viewing at all of the public libraries, village and city halls, and at each of the township halls in Ogle County. An electronic version of the draft plan is also available on the OCSWMD website at http://oglecounty.org/departments/solid-waste-management/news-events/solid-waste-plan-update/. To request a paper copy of the draft plan, contact the OCSWMD at (815) 732-4020. Comments may be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org.
