Rockford TV comedy ‘Rock And a Hard Place’ begins filming

• Party set for Thursday, Dec. 11, at Radisson Hotel in Rockford

Three years in the making, Rock And a Hard Place is finally filming this week (Dec. 6-11) at various locations in Rockford.

The TV pilot stars Jim Breuer (Saturday Night Live, Half Baked), Eddie Steeples (My Name is Earl, Raising Hope), Diane Sellers (Rules of Engagement), with Braxton Cosby, John Schlitt (former lead singer of Petra and Head East), Lindee Link, Dan McGowan, and Rockford/Chicago talent Ann Hagemen, Sue Cook, Renee Domenz, Berkeley Clayborne, and show creator and Rockford resident Darren Marlar. Directed by Keith Romine and produced by Berdella Endress (both from Belvidere).

The show takes place in the fictional town of Rock Haven and follows a pastor (Breuer) who inherits the bar directly across the street from his church.

The production has brought on some heavy hitters behind the camera as well, including cinematographer Victor Goss (The Wonder Years, Nash Bridges), and consultant Dean Batali (That ’70s Show, Buffy The Vampire Slayer).

Once filming wraps, a party is planned to take place at the Radisson Hotel, 200 S. Bell School Road, Rockford, at 7 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 11, with cast, crew, press, fans, and anyone else who would like to join them in the celebration. Most of the show’s cast is expected to be in attendance for photos, autographs,and interviews.
