PECATONICA, Illinois — Illinois State Police District 16 personnel collected food items and other donations to support the Rock River Valley Pantry (RRVP) during their recent Christmas party. Troopers and other staff, both active and retired, collected a 55-gallon drum of groceries and $1,951 in funds.

Donations came in to the Pecatonica post to support the pantry at 421 S. Rockton Ave. in Rockford. In 2013, the pantry provided more than 763,000 nutritious meals to families in urgent need.

Each year, District 16 selects an organization within its four northwestern Illinois counties to expand its mission of community care-taking.

The men and women of District 16 are honored to lend a helping hand and provide the most basic of human needs,” said District 16 Commander, Capt. Todd Rohlwing. “I’m extremely proud of this organization and its members.”

Rock River Valley Pantry can be reached at (815) 965-2466 or www.rrvp.org. Donations are tax deductible.
