Rockford prostitution sting nets seven arrests, targets online operations

In the evening hours of Wednesday, Dec. 10, the Rockford Police Department District 2 Neighborhood Response Unit conducted an undercover prostitution detail targeting Internet-based prostitution operations.

During the detail, the officers established a fake Internet-based ad for prostitution, which generated a significant number of contacts with men seeking to engage in prostitution.

During the operation, the following seven arrests were made (click here for photos of those arrested):

Somchith K. Inthabandith, 45, Machesney Park, charged with soliciting a prostitute;

Joshua R. Calhoun, 23, Rockford, charged with soliciting a prostitute;

Hung M. Nguyen, 33, Rockford, charged with soliciting a prostitute;

Nikola Kuljanin, 33, Rockford, charged with soliciting a prostitute;

Ryan C. Degutis, 31, Durand, charged with soliciting a prostitute;

Jack Patel, 48, Caledonia, charged with soliciting a prostitute and resisting arrest; and

John M. Bedin, 43, Rockford, charged with soliciting a prostitute.

During the investigation, seven vehicles were impounded because they were utilized in an act in furtherance to the offense of the City Ordinance 17-27.1(5) Solicitation of Prostitute/Sexual Act.
