NIU president to speak at Rockford Chamber luncheon Dec. 18

Northern Illinois University (NIU) President Douglas Baker will speak at a Rockford Chamber of Commerce luncheon from 11:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m., Thursday, Dec. 18, at Radisson Hotel & Conference Center, 200 S. Bell School Road, Rockford. Cost to attend is $45 per person, and registrations can be made online at rockfordchamber.com.
The Chamber will focus on the important role of higher education in regional transformation at its final 2014 luncheon. Baker will provide his perspective on the evolution of higher education, specifically providing examples of NIU’s current and potential engagement activities to help move the region forward.
As the region’s four-year university, NIU is engaged with students, alumni, businesses and civic organizations throughout Illinois. Baker is the university’s 12th president.
