Benefit concert for Pavilion Warming Center Dec. 20

The Pavilion Warming Center in Rockford is receiving some much-needed help from area bands and musicians. At 7 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 20, a benefit is being held at the ELB, an all-ages music venue in the lower level of Emmanuel Lutheran Church, 920 Third Ave., Rockford.

Headlining band is Fight With Monsters from St. Charles. Musicians from DeKalb and Freeport will participate, along with three Rockford musicians. The show features folk, singer-songwriter, jazz, ska, alternative and indie styles of music.

The Pavilion Warming Center in southeast Rockford serves as many as a few dozen people daily. The center was in the news last spring for its issues with city zoning. Zoning matters may remain, but the number of people the warming center serves has not diminished.
