With Christmas less than a week away, the Rockford Post Office wants to remind customers about remaining holiday deadlines.
“This is our season, and we’ve seen holiday mail volume dramatically increase,” said Rockford Acting Postmaster Steve Schwalenberg. “That’s why we want to remind all of our customers to be sure to mail their cards, letters and packages soon so they reach loved ones in time for Christmas.”
Schwalenberg says Dec. 20 is the deadline for customers to use First-Class and Priority Mail postage for cards and letters packages to ensure delivery in time for Christmas. For last-minute shoppers, Dec. 23 is the deadline for sending packages using Priority Mail Express.
Customers can request free package pickup online and the Postal Service will pick up packages as part of regular mail delivery the next business day. Unlike other shipping companies, there is no fee for this service.
The Postal Service receives no tax dollars for operating expenses and relies on the sale of postage, products and services to fund its operations.
