If the rumors are true that these 2 men were banned from the Rockford Rescue Mission because of their drinking problems, then SHAME on RRM! Just because it is a religious organizations does not mean they are supposed to shove their beliefs down the throats of those in need. I have had problems with RRM for years because of the RULES they have in place regarding praying and accepting Christ BEFORE they will help those less fortunate. Because of this, many people, including myself, have stopped giving money to RRM. Christ did NOT BAN sinners on any level!! HE told us to hate the sin NOT the sinner. Their approach is totally WRONG when it comes to helping those with addictions–which 99.9% of the homeless have. Again if the rumors are true, then RRM has the death of these 2 men on their hands….dying in a stairwell of a parking structure!! Jesus would NOT have allowed this.

    Were they veterans?

These men were not banned from RRM. You are not required to accept Christ, pray, or participate at all to receive services all that is required is for you to be respectful to those around you who may want to pray or worship
