Cold weather forces closure of Rockford, Roscoe recycle centers Jan. 10

Online Staff Report

The Keep Northern Illinois Beautiful (KNIB) Recycle Centers at 4665 Hydraulic Road, Rockford, and 13125 N. Second St., Roscoe, will be closed Saturday, Jan. 10, because of predicted below-zero wind chill, for the safety of volunteers and recyclers. Normal hours are 9 a.m.-noon, Saturdays, year-round, unless the wind chill is predicted at or below zero.

Both the KNIB recycle centers offer free drop-off of cardboard, paper, plastic, glass and metal recyclable containers, bagged clothing, electronics including holiday lights (but no TVs or computer monitors), scrap metal and non-Freon appliances.
