UPDATE: Benito Martinez, 28, has been identified as the man found dead in the street, and Tarina Mitchell, 22, has been identified as the woman found in the SUV who later died at Rockford Memorial Hospital.

Four people were shot and two have died following a shooting on Rockford’s west side Tuesday night, Jan. 13.
Police responded to the 700 block of Oakley Avenue around 11:37 p.m., Jan. 13. Upon arrival, they found a male lying in the street. The victim appeared to be suffering from a gunshot wound. Rockford Fire personnel advised the victim was deceased.
During the investigation, it was learned a dark-colored SUV was seen leaving northbound on Oakley Avenue. A short time later, the SUV was located at Knight Avenue and Edgemont Street. A female victim was located in the SUV suffering from gunshot wounds. She was taken to a local hospital, where she died as a result of her injuries. A third victim, who was suffering from multiple gunshot wounds, was also located. This victim was a male subject. The third victim is being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
A fourth victim arrived at a local hospital. This victim is male and was also suffering from a gunshot wound. He is being treated at a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
